Unranked at the beginning of the 1996 season the Xavier Musketeers went 23-6, won the A-10 West division and finished #13 in the final AP Poll.
But highlight of the season came during the Crosstown Shootout when Lenny Brown knocked off #1 Cincinnati with a last second shot.
"Nobody thought that Xavier had a chance. UC went into the game rated No. 1 almost across the board," said Andy MacWilliams, then the play-by-play announcer for Xavier's radio team.
"I dribbled to my left maybe two or three times, thinking 'What the heck am I going to do?' Then I realized the time was getting short. I just made a crossover and I pulled up," Brown said.
